Another For Sale sign has sprung up in someone’s planter, probably following suit from their neighbor’s. That’s right, this sign is in the planter just a view doors down, at 166 Soco Dr.
Are these sign post in the planters a growing trend?

It’s a scorcher out there. Everything seems of the norm. Construction continues, parking lots are full, and same crowd at the stores.
Stay hydrated and have a Happy Monday!
There is a “For Sale” sign stuck in the planter at 176 Soco Dr. What are the regulations for such signs? I have seen other “for sale” and for “lease signs” posted, but not as visible as this one. I would imagine that the Olson Co. looks down on this due to it potential impact to sales.
How do you residents feel, and if you know, what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to these signs?
The two brown pylons and the surrounding pavement at the entry way to the bridge on the Soco Walk side has been tagged AGAIN! Damn you FTT trolls!
At least it isn’t Soco Walk property (right?), so the graffiti-free streak continues!
BTW, someone should report the tag to get it cleaned up. Thanks residents for your continued participation. I have been out of the area as of late, so having your contributions helps to keep everyone updated.
Don’t hesitate to email issues you want to anonymously post here to socowatch@gmail.com
Nice.
The construction traffic is very minimal today, but the gate is still open for use.
One of the buildings at the construction site by the church is receiving its wood framing today! Nothing too special, I am just excited to see continued development.
Various sketchy looking people have been seen throughout the day hanging out at the bridge entrance on the Soco Walk side. They have also been seen hanging out at the steps at the back entrance of the Maverick Theater (again by the bridge). I have no idea what they are doing there, but something tells me substances are involved.
Please keep cautious as you pass by/around the area. Trolls have been known to ask you difficult questions in exchange for passage. (I’m guessing the question will be “Can you spare some money?”)
The building going up where the old design center was is now getting it foundation poured. As such, there is very heavy traffic around that construction site. I advise anyone coming in to avoid use the main entrance (Broadway) to get it. Rather use the Soco Dr fire entrance (townhomes side) or the Town Court entrance (Lost side).
In any case, be cautious of the activity. And I feel sorry for any cars parked right there.
Due to heavy construction traffic at Soco Dr and Railway, the Soco Dr. and Walnut fire gate is open for traffic to pass to the townhomes. This will probably be closed again by the close of the work day.
Seriously, will the owner of the white Nissan Sentra, Lic# 6CYH211 please remove your car from the No Parking Handicap Parking area. Fullerton Parking Control will be notified later tonight if not moved.
As a consequence, there is a good chance any other vehicle parked illegally through out the complex will be ticketed as well.
7:35 pm. After questioning Baldy for a bit, the police let him go. A few minutes after the police left, one of the gang unit trucks circled back around again, seemingly to check if any more gangster creeped out thinking the Unit had left. They did spot a couple walking along Truslow on the Townhome side and drove over and talked to them briefly. Then the Unit drove off.
Looks like that’s it for the night.
7:25 pm. The gang unit has Baldy on the curb in front of 130 Truslow. They are questioning him.
Meanwhile, two younger gang members were seen casually walking in between the construction site and the building.
At approximately 7:05 pm there was police activity in front of La Jalisco that resulted in a chase through the complex.
A couple of younger gang members were seen bolting from the store and heading through the complex with Baldy on bike not far behind. The Gang Unit truck had pulled up in front of the store with an Officer jumping out yelling “Freeze!” as the perps continued to flee. The Officer continued to pursue on foot while the truck sped off.
Stache and a couple other older gang members were seen also scurrying off the scene.
No word yet on if the perps were caught….stay tuned…
I have spoken to many people and there is a growing concern about Pet Owners and their pet’s mess. There are a lot of residents who can be seen walking their pets, which I think is a wonderful thing. But let’s be respectful of everyone and clean up after their mess. There is limited grass area for everyone, and when giant sh*t bombs are left behind, it is just plain rude to other dog owners and residents who are walking around trying to enjoy the community.
I hate to post something like this, but it is getting ridiculous. Bring a bag.
I understand that parking is pretty bad, but today I saw something that just irks. There is a person who drives a white, Nissan Sentra that parked not only in a spot designated for Handicap Parking, but over the part of the extra space that is crossed out for them to manuever, which is marked with a “NO PARKING” sign on the pavement. This occured in the parking right in front of the Townhome side over by the Sales Center.
Come on, is it that necessary to illegally take over a Handicap space. Do what everyone else does and park behind the garage. (BTW, all curbs behind the garages, though not painted, are actually designated “Fire Lanes”). I mean parking behind the garage is not allowed either. But to take away Handicap parking….”Boo on you!”
Next time I see that car (and no it didn’t have the appropriate hang tag), you sir/madam will be towed. I promise.
Just after 5:00 pm today as I was walking from the train station I saw one of the local bums fishing for change in the water fountain between the live-works. I’m sure nobody will ever score more than a few cents there (who is making wishes there anyway?!). But honestly, how does bums fishing out of water fountains reflect on the community, and more importantly what do potential buyers think of it.
Just another point to add to the case for the need of a stronger security presence.
I suggest that whenever you get a chance in the next couple of days to take a stroll down the Townhome side of Soco Dr and stop and “smell” the roses. I wished I had a camera as I was passing by, but I didn’t. The white rose bushes between Gateway and Depot are in full bloom and it really does look beautiful. It makes you feel better about paying your HOA dues for such good landscaping…
…then you step out onto Truslow and see the death row of palm trees and you get pissed again.
But at least you took a break to take in the good.
Happy Monday!
A Resident sends:
At approximately 10:30 am, two white males were seen walking out of La Jalisco with cans of beer and smokes. Both were walking down the middle of the street, yelling obscenities at each other, even causing cars to swerve around them. They were last seen heading west on Truslow towards Harbor.
Their descriptions:
1) White male, approx. 5′-10″, wearing black tank top and camo shorts and a black hat. Arms tattooed.
2) White male, approx. 5′-7′, wearing navy blue hoody sweatshirt, jeans, and a blue hat.
Both men were scruffy looking and in their late teens or early 20s.”
Thank you resident for the update. You or any of your neighbors should call the police as this is definitely dangerous behavior. Keep your eyes out folks, they may be hanging out in the usual places the drunks hang. Be safe!
A bit of good news. It looks like a new business has popped up at the live-work units! It is a property management/real estate company.
Here is the list of businesses the Soco Walk has:
Sweet Mango – A Yogurt Shop (are they still in business?)
The Coffee Rail – A Coffee/Pastry shop (are they still in/going to be/ever was in business?)
Coast-to-Coast – A property management company
That investment company
The Olson Co. Design Center
Are there any other businesses there or coming soon?
